Strange 80s is an annual benefit show at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles which features a rotating cast of the biggest marquis talent and emerging artists in rock, performing songs from the world’s favorite decade, the 80s. Strange incorporates musicians, comedians and cast members from the latest binge-worthy series in pop-culture. It’s the only platform to see unfathomable supergroups comprised of members from stalwart bands. Slipknot, Fall Out Boy, The Regrettes and Nsynch, meshed into one playing a song the whole world can sing along to, or an obscure track that takes you back to that glorious time. Or for those who don’t know what life was like without a cell phone, let the song and the vibe explain it.
Most importantly, 100% of the proceeds raised each year go to a different cause and organization that we and/or our artists feel closest to. Also, whether it’s an authentic video arcade installation, a ten-foot rubix cube, or hairspray bottle flanking the stage, or a smattering of glow-sticks and fanny packs on the table tops, the whole theatre is filled with entertainment.
After the show, the Rooftop party kicks off with renown DJs and the night’s performing artists kicking about. Not a shred of pretense, zero inhibitions, pure escapism…with the best artists in the world and for a charitable cause. No wonder this is a winner.
